Elevate your ham with a bourbon-infused mustard and brown sugar glaze for a mouthwatering twist.
Ingredients:
  • 1 fully cooked smoked bone-in half ham (9 to 10 lb)
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground mustard
  • 1/4 cup bourbon or apple juice
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 325°F. Grease a shallow roasting pan or a 15x10x1-inch pan with cooking spray. Put the ham, fat side up, on a rack in the pan. Score the outside of the ham in a diamond pattern and insert cloves into the diamond shapes. To make inserting cloves easier, use a small paring knife or toothpick to create small holes before inserting cloves. Place an ovenproof meat thermometer in the thickest part of the ham. Bake for 1 hour.
  • Combine the brown sugar, mustard, and bourbon in a small bowl. Brush half of the mixture evenly over the ham.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, then brush with the remaining brown sugar mixture. Continue baking for an additional 40 to 50 minutes or until the thermometer reads 140°F. If the pan drippings start to burn, add up to 1/4 cup of water to the pan.
  • Take the savory ham out of the oven, cover it with foil, and allow it to rest for 10 to 15 minutes to make carving a breeze.
