Bride of Frankenstein Cake

Get creative with decorative gel and icing to make this crazy cake extra fun! Just add your personal touch for a memorable treat!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ White Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and egg whites called for on cake mix box
  • 1 tub (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Fluffy White Frosting
  • 4 drops green food color
  • 1 can (6.4 oz) Betty Crocker™ white decorating icing
  • 1 can (6.4 oz) Betty Crocker™ blue decorating icing
  • 3 large green gumdrops
  • 2 large white gumdrops
  • 1 tube (0.68 oz) Betty Crocker™ green decorating gel
  • 1 tube (0.68 oz) Betty Crocker™ red decorating gel
  • 1 tube (0.68 oz) Betty Crocker™ black decorating gel
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and grease two 9x5-inch loaf pans. Prepare cake batter following box instructions; divide into pans. Bake for 32 to 40 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack. Allow to cool completely for about 1 hour.
  • Trim off the top of each cake to level them. Place the cakes bottom sides up on a long serving platter measuring at least 18 inches, forming a long rectangle.
  • Combine 1/3 cup of frosting with green food color in a small bowl until thoroughly mixed. Frost one-fourth of the cake (top and sides) with the green frosting to create the face, then use the remaining white frosting to cover the rest of the cake.
  • Utilizing ribbon tips on icing cans, create alternating white and blue lines from the edge of the green frosting to the far end of the cake.
  • Create adorable face features by positioning 1 green gumdrop on each side for ears, and 1 for the nose. Press white gumdrops, small ends down, for eyes, and add detailing with decorating gels for eye pupils, lashes, nose, and lips. Store covered loosely.
