Nutritious and irresistible meal upgrade for your pup.
Ingredients:
  • 2 chicken leg quarters
  • 1 cup brown rice
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.66666668653488 cup rolled oats
  • 1 (10 ounce) package chopped frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 2 cups frozen chopped broccoli, thawed
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans - rinsed, drained and mashed
  • 2 carrots, shredded
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 0.5 cup olive oil
Instructions:
  • In a large pot, add the chicken leg quarters and enough water to cover them by 1 inch. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 40 minutes. Remove the legs and let them cool. Strain the cooking liquid back into the pot. After the legs have cooled, discard the skin and bones, chop the meat, and set it aside.
  • Combine brown rice with chicken broth, bring to a boil, then simmer covered until rice is tender, about 45 to 50 minutes. Drain any excess liquid before adding rice to the chicken in the bowl.
  • Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat, and cook the ground beef until crumbly and no longer pink, about 7 minutes. Drain any excess grease and transfer the beef to a bowl. Mix in oats, spinach, broccoli, kidney beans, carrots, cottage cheese, and olive oil. Divide the dog food into resealable containers and freeze. Thaw individual portions in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
