Spicy deep-fried shrimp coated in fiery butter sauce, topped with fresh peppers. Serve with lemon wedges and blue cheese dressing for extra kick.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Creole-style seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined with tails attached
  • 4 cups oil for frying
  • 6 ounces hot pepper sauce
  • 2.5 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
Instructions:
  • In a big resealable bag, mix together flour, Creole-style seasoning, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, onion powder, and black pepper.
  • Begin by gently rinsing the shrimp under cold water, then coat them evenly in the flour mixture by sealing them in a bag and giving it a good shake. Spread the coated shrimp on a baking sheet and let them chill in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes. Meanwhile, keep the leftover flour mixture in the bag for later use.
  • As you wait, prepare the sauce by combining hot sauce, butter, garlic, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl; then, set it aside.
  • Preheat oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 350°F (175°C).
  • Take the shrimp out of the refrigerator and give them a final coating in the flour mixture before discarding the excess.
  • Fry shrimp in batches in hot oil until opaque. Transfer to a serving bowl using a slotted spoon and coat with sauce.
