Indulge in sweet homemade butterscotch candy with a blend of brown sugar, white sugar, butter, vinegar, and a touch of vanilla.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Coat a 10x15-inch baking pan with a generous amount of butter, ensuring the sides are well-covered.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, meld together brown sugar, butter, white sugar, water, vinegar, and salt. Allow to boil covered. Uncover and cook until the mixture reaches 270 to 290 degrees F (132 to 143 degrees C) without stirring, creating pliable, thread-like syrup when dripped into cold water.
  • Gently pour vanilla into the mixture without stirring. Remove from the heat and pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Allow it to cool slightly before cutting into squares and letting the candy cool completely.
