Kid-friendly cabbage dish: Savory ground beef and sausage cooked with tomatoes, onion, celery, cabbage, and rice.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 medium head cabbage, chopped
  • 14.5 fluid ounces water
  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 pinch garlic salt, or to taste
Instructions:
  • In a large stock pot over medium-high heat, sizzle a flavorful mix of ground beef, smoked sausage, onion, celery, and garlic until the meats are beautifully browned. Add in cabbage, tomatoes, water, rice, and a touch of garlic salt to season.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat. Cover and let it simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until the rice is perfectly tender, which should take about 35 to 40 minutes.
