Ingredients:
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.75 cup white cake mix, sifted
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 2 large egg yolks, beaten
Instructions:
  • Combine cream, milk, cake mix, sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla in a saucepan. Mix until smooth. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring often, until temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Transfer to a heat-proof container and chill in the refrigerator or freezer.
  • Transfer the cold mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze following the manufacturer's instructions until it becomes soft-serve consistency. Next, place the ice cream in a 1- or 2-quart lidded plastic container, cover the surface with plastic wrap, and seal. To enhance the flavor, let the ice cream ripen in the freezer for at least 2 hours or overnight before serving.
