Candied Pecan Chex™ Mix

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 9 cups Chex™ cereal (I used equal parts corn, rice, and wheat Chex)
  • 4 cups raw pecan halves
  • 2 cups pretzels
  • 4 egg whites, whisked
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 300° F and prepare two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Combine sugars, cinnamon, salt, and cayenne in a mixing bowl; set aside. In another bowl, mix Chex™, pecans, and pretzels. Add egg whites and toss for 1-2 minutes until coated. Sprinkle in the sugar mixture and continue tossing until evenly coated.
  • Evenly spread the mixture on the two lined baking sheets. Bake for 20 minutes, then give it a toss to ensure even cooking and break up any chunks. Bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until crispy and dry. Let it cool on a rack until it reaches room temperature.
  • For added variety, break the mixture into bite-sized pieces, then enjoy right away or store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
