Caprese salad: Tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil topped with homemade balsamic reduction - a perfect summer standout.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 3 large tomatoes, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1 (16 ounce) package fresh mozzarella cheese, cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 0.25 cup extra-virgin olive oil
Instructions:
  • Collect all your ingredients. Combine balsamic vinegar and honey in a small saucepan, then heat over high heat.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer until it reduces to 1/3 cup, approximately 10 minutes. Allow it to cool before using.
  • Artfully layer tomato and mozzarella slices on a platter in an alternating pattern.
  • Season generously with salt and black pepper, nestle basil leaves among the slices, and finish with a generous drizzle of olive oil and balsamic reduction.
