Succulent pork chops cooked with sweet apples, buttery pecans, and warm autumn spices.
Ingredients:
  • 4 (3/4 inch) thick pork chops
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 medium tart apples - peeled, cored and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons pecans
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 175 degrees F (80 degrees C by placing a medium baking dish inside.
  • Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brush chops with oil and sear in the hot pan until cooked through, 5 to 6 minutes per side. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure they reach 145 degrees F (63 degrees C). Keep warm in a preheated oven-safe dish.
  • Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper in a small bowl and mix well.
  • Melt butter in a skillet over gentle heat. Add apples and brown sugar, stirring well. Cover and cook until apples are tender, around 5 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer apples to the side while keeping the sauce in the skillet. Place apples over pork chops in the oven to keep warm.
  • Simmer the sauce without a lid until it thickens slightly, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Take the pork chops out of the oven and generously drizzle sauce on top before adding a generous sprinkle of pecans.
