Create flaky slice pastry using frozen croissants and a rich Caramilk cream cheese filling. Chill for two hours before indulging in this decadent dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 x 360g packets Frozen Bake At Home All Butter Croissants, slightly thawed
  • Plain flour, to dust
  • 375g cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 180g block Caramilk chocolate, melted
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked
  • 21.60 gm honey
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180C/160C fan forced. Grease a 17 x 27cm slice pan and line it with baking paper, making sure the paper overhangs the long sides.
  • Cut the croissants in half horizontally using a large serrated knife, then allow them to thaw completely.
  • Arrange the croissant bases in a rectangular shape on a lightly floured surface, slightly overlapping. Roll out with a rolling pin to form an 18cm x 28cm rectangle. Transfer to the pan and bake for 12 minutes or until golden. Let cool for a bit before serving.
  • Beat cream cheese until smooth using electric beaters. Mix in melted chocolate and egg until smooth and combined. Spread mixture over croissant base and smooth the surface.
  • Overlap the croissant tops on a floured surface to form a rectangle, then roll them out with a pin to an 18cm x 28cm rectangle. Carefully lay it on top of the filling and bake for 35 minutes until golden. Brush with honey, let it cool slightly, then refrigerate for 2 hours until set.
  • Transfer the slice to a chopping board and then slice it to serve.
