Indulge in a comforting English dish of steamed cauliflower smothered in a velvety cheese sauce - pure bliss!
Ingredients:
  • 1 head cauliflower, broken into florets
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1.6666667461395 cups milk
  • 3.5 ounces grated sharp Cheddar cheese
  • salt and ground white pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Set up your steamer by placing it in a saucepan and filling it with water. Bring the water to a boil. Add the cauliflower to the steamer, cover with a lid, and steam until tender, about 10 to 12 minutes.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook, stirring constantly, until the raw flour taste cooks off and the mixture darkens, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Slowly incorporate milk into the velvety butter mixture, continuously stirring as the sauce gradually thickens over approximately 8 minutes. Take the pot off the heat and gently fold in the rich Cheddar cheese. Finally, season the sauce with a touch of salt and essence of white pepper.
  • Fold the steamed cauliflower into the creamy cheese sauce, then season generously with salt and a hint of white pepper.
