Herb-seasoned roast chicken with savory stuffing, roasted to perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 0.5 cup diced celery, with leaves
  • 6 slices stale bread, cut into cubes
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon celery salt
  • 0.5 cup melted butter
  • 1 (3 pound) whole chicken
  • 0.25 cup chopped fresh savory
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine onion, celery, bread, pepper, parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, and celery salt in a large bowl. Drizzle melted butter over the mixture and mix well.
  • Stuff the chicken cavities with the delicious stuffing before placing the chicken in a roasting pan. Sprinkle savory over the chicken and cover with a lid or foil.
  • After 1 hour in the preheated oven, uncover and turn up the heat to 425°F (220°C). Continue roasting until golden brown and a meat thermometer inserted near the bone in the thickest part of the thigh registers 165°F (74°C), approximately 15 minutes more.
