Indulgent challah bread pudding drizzled with rich amaretto sauce - a beloved, effortless dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (1 pound) loaf challah, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 quart half-and-half
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons almond extract
  • 0.75 cup sliced almonds
  • 0.75 cup raisins
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.25 cup amaretto liqueur (such as Disaronno®)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
Instructions:
  • For the bread pudding, combine challah pieces and half-and-half in a large bowl. Cover and allow to sit for 1 hour.
  • After an hour, warm up your oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) and generously butter a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Combine sugar, eggs, melted butter, and almond extract in a bowl and whisk until smooth. Mix into the challah mixture. Gently add almonds and raisins, then transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  • After 50 minutes of baking in the preheated oven, carefully remove from oven while leaving it on.
  • Combine confectioners' sugar, melted butter, amaretto liqueur, and egg to create a luscious sauce. Drizzle over bread pudding and bake for 10 to 15 minutes until golden. Serve warm for a decadent treat.
