Delicious apple bread pudding infused with cinnamon, topped with decadent brown sugar bourbon sauce.
Ingredients:
  • For the bread pudding
  • 1 pound brioche or challah bread , cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 large apples, peeled and chopped into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • For the bourbon sauce
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons bourbon
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish.
  • Arrange the bread cubes on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake in the oven for approximately 10 minutes until they are lightly toasted.
  • Create the apple filling: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine diced apples, brown sugar, butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Cook and stir until apples are soft and sugar is melted, approximately 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Combine milk, eggs, and sugar in a large bowl. Place bread cubes in a casserole dish. Top with apple filling. Gently mix bread and apples together. Pour over egg and milk mixture. Rest for 15 minutes before baking to let the flavors meld.
  • Bake until the liquid is set, the bread surface is golden brown, about 40 minutes. To check for doneness, insert a sharp knife or toothpick in the center; it should come out clean.
  • While the bread pudding bakes, craft the delectable sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, meld brown sugar and butter until sugar dissolves, about 4 to 5 minutes. Pour in heavy cream, stirring continuously for 1 to 2 minutes. Infuse with bourbon and let simmer for 1 minute. Off heat, stir occasionally as the sauce cools to maintain a velvety consistency. Gently drape the warm sauce over the bread pudding and relish every bite. Feel free to show your appreciation by rating the recipe below!
