Try a new take on French toast with a splash of limoncello for a luxurious breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons caster sugar plus a little extra
  • 250 g strawberries halved
  • 200 g ricotta sliced or crumbled
  • runny honey
  • grated lemon zest to serve
  • 2 free-range eggs
  • 50 ml full-fat milk
  • 1 good dash limoncello
  • 4 thick slices stale sourdough or Italian bread
Instructions:
  • Combine the beaten egg, milk, and a hint of limoncello in a shallow dish. Dip the bread slices into the mixture and remove any excess. Sprinkle with caster sugar, then grill on the barbecue for a few minutes on each side until golden. Quickly grill the strawberries coated with caster sugar until the sugar caramelizes. Place warm bread on a plate, top with ricotta and grilled strawberries. Drizzle with honey and garnish with lemon zest.
