Easy apple strudel made with puff pastry, served hot or cold, topped with cream.
Ingredients:
  • flour for dusting
  • 1 (17.5 ounce) package frozen puff pastry sheets (2 sheets), thawed
  • water, as needed
  • 6 small tart apples - peeled, cored, and sliced thinly
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup toasted slivered almonds
  • 0.25 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 0.5 teaspoon white sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Sprinkle flour over a clean surface. Place parchment paper on a baking sheet.
  • Join the two sheets of puff pastry along their short edges on your work surface to form a long rectangle. Lightly brush water along the edges and press gently with your fingertips to seal them together.
  • Combine the apple slices, cinnamon, brown sugar, almonds, and butterscotch chips in a bowl until evenly mixed. Spoon the mixture onto one long edge of the pastry, fold over, and roll into a long strudel shape. Seal both ends, brush with melted butter, make two-inch diagonal slits along the length, and transfer to the baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then sprinkle sugar over the strudel. Return to the oven until the pastry is golden brown and flaky, for another 15 to 20 minutes.
