Excited to use fresh herbs from my garden, I upgraded my go-to biscuit recipe for a perfect pairing with chicken and salad.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 0.5 cup butter or margarine
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 425°F (220°C).
  • Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cream of tartar in a medium bowl. Add butter and cut it in using a pastry cutter or fork until pea-sized. Create a well in the center, then pour in milk, cheese, and thyme. Gently mix until dough forms.
  • Flatten on a floured surface to a 3/4-inch thickness, cut into circles, and transfer to a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the biscuit bottoms turn golden brown.
