One-skillet cheesy pasta dinner with a twist using Hamburger Helper™ and pickled jalapeños for a deliciously easy and spicy kick.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup Progresso™ plain panko crispy bread crumbs
  • 4 slices bacon, cut into 1/2-inch slices (4 oz)
  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 box Hamburger Helper™ cheeseburger macaroni
  • 4 oz cream cheese (half of 8-oz package), cut into cubes and softened
  • 1/3 cup sliced pickled jalapeños (from 16-oz jar)
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
Instructions:
  • Heat a 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat. Melt butter in the skillet and add bread crumbs. Cook and stir for 2 to 5 minutes until toasted. Transfer the bread crumbs to a small bowl and wipe out the skillet.
  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the bacon for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently until crisp. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.
  • In a skillet with delicious bacon drippings, sauté the beef over medium-high heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat, then return the flavorful beef to the skillet.
  • Combine milk, hot water, and the uncooked pasta and sauce mix from the Hamburger Helper™ box in a pot. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Lower the heat, cover, and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
  • Take the mixture off the heat and blend in the cream cheese until fully melted. Sprinkle with bread crumbs, bacon, jalapeños, and green onions to finish.
