Crispy chicken nuggets with a waffle twist, cooked to golden perfection in a waffle iron.
Ingredients:
  • 24 frozen chicken nuggets
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup cornmeal
  • 1.5 teaspoons white sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1.75 cups buttermilk
  • 0.33333334326744 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs, beaten
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and lay out those tasty chicken nuggets on a baking sheet.
  • Bake nuggets in the preheated oven for 11-13 minutes until golden and crispy.
  • Preheat the waffle iron following the manufacturer's directions, then lightly coat it with cooking spray.
  • In a bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, oil, and eggs. Pour the buttermilk mixture into the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
  • Place a chicken nugget in the center of each waffle section on the waffle iron. Top each nugget with approximately 1 tablespoon of batter, close the waffle iron, and cook until golden and crispy, about 4 minutes. Repeat with remaining nuggets and batter.
