Delight loved ones with flavorful Chinese five-spice pork, paired perfectly with Chinese broccoli and rice.
Ingredients:
  • 3 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 14.40 gm sea salt flakes
  • 1 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 2.3kg pork boneless leg roast
  • 2 bunches Chinese broccoli (gai lan)
  • Sliced long red chilli, to serve
  • Coriander sprigs, to serve
  • Steamed jasmine rice, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 230C. Pat the pork dry with paper towels.
  • Enhance the pork by mixing five-spice, garlic, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Massage this flavorful mixture into the pork skin, ensuring to score it. Arrange the pork with the rind facing up in a roasting tray and bake for 30 minutes until the skin crisps up. Lower the oven temperature to 200C and continue cooking for 2 hours until perfectly done. Take it out, tent with foil, and let it rest for 15 minutes before serving.
  • Prepare the Chinese broccoli by boiling, steaming, or microwaving until tender. Drain the broccoli and combine it with the pork in a pan, ensuring it is coated in the flavorful juices. Serve alongside chili, fresh coriander, and steamed rice for a delicious meal.
