Choco-Cherry Double Delights

Award-winning 2010 recipe! Indulge in rich double chocolate cherry cookies.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/3 cups whole maraschino cherries, well drained
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie Mix
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup chopped macadamia nuts
  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Halve 15 of the maraschino cherries and set them aside for topping the cookies. Chop the remaining maraschino cherries.
  • Combine cookie mix, oil, water, and egg in a large bowl until a soft dough forms. Fold in chopped cherries and nuts. Spoon dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, ensuring each cookie is 2 inches apart. Gently press one cherry half into the center of each cookie.
  • Bake for 7 to 9 minutes until firm. Allow to cool for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Let cool for about 15 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving. Keep loosely covered at room temperature.
