Valentine's Day dessert: Crispy chocolate banana wontons with whipped cream.
Ingredients:
  • 2 very ripe bananas
  • 0.33333334326744 cup miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 (14 ounce) package wonton wrappers
  • oil for frying
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon brandy-based orange liqueur (such as Grand Marnier®)
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Combine bananas, 1/3 cup chocolate chips, clove, cinnamon, and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Mash thoroughly until well mixed. You can also pulse the mixture in a food processor for a smoother consistency to ensure the chocolate chips won't melt out of the wontons.
  • Prepare the wontons by laying out the wonton wrappers. Add 1 teaspoon of banana filling to the center of each wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrappers with water, fold in half diagonally into triangles, and seal the edges together. Repeat these steps for the remaining ingredients.
  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter with brown sugar, orange liqueur, and corn syrup over medium heat. Simmer until the sugar dissolves and the sauce is smooth, for about 4 minutes. Let it cool slightly before using.
  • Fry the wontons in hot oil until golden brown, about 4 minutes. Flip them halfway through for even browning. Drain on paper towels, then serve warm with caramel sauce. Garnish by sprinkling with the remaining 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips.
