Indulgent yeast bread loaves bursting with heavenly chocolate chips and tart dried cherries.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups bread flour, or more as needed
  • 0.75 cup chocolate chips
  • 0.75 cup dried cherries
Instructions:
  • In a small bowl, vigorously whisk together milk and yeast until frothy, approximately 5 minutes. Incorporate egg, butter, white sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix for 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in 1 cup of flour and beat for about 5 minutes. Finally, add the remaining 2 cups of flour and mix until the dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough onto a gently dusted work surface, knead until it becomes smooth and elastic for approximately 10 minutes. If necessary, incorporate more flour. Add in the chocolate chips and cherries, kneading only until they are evenly distributed.
  • Allow the dough to rest in a cozy, steamy place until it doubles in size, approximately 1 hour.
  • Gently deflate dough, then allow it to rest for 10 minutes. Divide dough in half and shape into loaves. Place loaves on a greased baking sheet and let rise for about 1 more hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for perfectly baked results.
  • Bake in the oven until golden brown, for 20 to 30 minutes.
