Irresistible Chocolate Chex mix: Caramelized brown sugar and butter coat crunchy chocolate cereal squares for a delectable snack.
Ingredients:
  • 8 cups Chocolate Chex® cereal
  • 0.75 cup packed brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 cup vanilla baking chips
Instructions:
  • In a large microwave-safe bowl, gently pour the cereal and set it aside for later. Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper.
  • Microwave the brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup in a 2-cup microwave-safe measuring cup on High for 1 to 2 minutes. Stir after 1 minute until melted and smooth.
  • Blend baking soda into the sugar mixture until completely dissolved. Drizzle over the cereal, ensuring it's evenly coated. Microwave the coated cereal on High for 3 minutes, stirring every minute.
  • Spread the cereal mixture evenly on the cookie sheet, let it cool for 10 minutes, then break it into bite-sized pieces.
  • Microwave vanilla baking chips in a small microwave-safe bowl on High for about 1 minute 30 seconds, or until smooth and easily stirred (bowl will be hot).
  • Melt baking chips and generously drizzle over snack. Chill until firm for at least 10 minutes. Keep in a tightly sealed container for storage.
