Chocolate cream cheese cake

Decadent chocolate cake topped with creamy vanilla cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients:
  • 125g unsalted butter
  • 220.00g caster sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 8.80 gm vanilla essence
  • 150g self-raising flour
  • 15.00 gm cocoa powder
  • 120.00ml milk
  • 125g cream cheese
  • 4.40 gm vanilla essence
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C and prepare a 20cm round or square cake pan by greasing and lining the base.
  • In a large bowl, use electric beaters to blend the butter and sugar until pale. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in vanilla. Sift in the combined flour and cocoa, pour in the milk, and stir until everything is well combined. Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan and let it sit aside.
  • For the vanilla cream topping, gently whip cream cheese until smooth in a bowl. Blend in the sugar until well combined. Incorporate the rest of the ingredients and evenly spread over the cake mixture in the pan. Bake for 40 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool completely in the pan, then cut into squares and serve.
