Create award-winning Banana Bars with ripe bananas and sugar cookie mix for a delicious fall treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup mashed very ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 1/4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and generously grease a 9-inch square pan. In a large bowl, combine the cookie mix, 1/2 cup of butter, and egg until a soft dough forms. Set aside 1 cup of the dough. Mix mashed banana and walnuts into the remaining dough until well combined. Spread this mixture evenly on the bottom of the pan.
  • In a medium microwave-safe bowl, microwave 3/4 cup of chocolate chips with 2 tablespoons butter on High for about 1 minute. Stir halfway through until smooth. Add reserved cookie dough and blend well. Drop spoonfuls of chocolate dough over the banana mixture and gently spread it to almost cover. Swirl the chocolate into the banana mixture with a knife to create a marbled design.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before serving.
  • In a small microwavable bowl, heat the remaining 1/2 cup of chocolate chips on High in the microwave for about 1 minute. Stir after 30 seconds until melted and smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the bars and allow them to cool completely for about 2 hours. Cut into 5 rows by 4 rows to make bars and store them covered at room temperature.
