Elevate classic snickerdoodle cookies with rich cocoa powder for a crowd-pleasing chocolate twist.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) for a perfect cooking temperature.
  • Cream together 1 1/2 cups white sugar, shortening, and eggs in a bowl using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
  • Combine all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl, then gently fold it into the egg mixture until fully incorporated.
  • Combine 1/4 cup of white sugar with cinnamon in a shallow bowl or on a plate.
  • Shape the cookie dough into 1-inch balls, then coat each ball with a delightful sugar and cinnamon mixture. Arrange them on an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 6 to 8 minutes until soft and golden on top, being careful not to burn. Allow to cool before transferring to a wire rack. The tops will crack as they cool.
