Transform basic bread dough into a delectable chocolate orange creation. Serve with yogurt and fruit, or explore tips for an extravagant twist.
Ingredients:
  • olive oil for greasing
  • ½ x easy homemade bread dough
  • 180 g quality chocolate spread
  • 1 orange
  • 2 tablespoons blanched hazelnuts
  • 1 free-range egg
Instructions:
  • Prepare a 2-litre loaf tin by greasing it lightly with olive oil. Next, create the easy homemade bread dough and roll it out into a 20cm x 30cm rectangle during the second proving stage. Quickly melt the chocolate spread in the microwave for easy spreading on the dough, then grate the orange zest over it. Roll up the dough tightly starting from the shortest edge, seal the edges by pinching them together. Using a sharp knife, slice the dough in half lengthways, leaving 5cm at the top. Twist one piece of dough over the other, ensuring the chocolate layer stays at the top. Transfer the dough to the greased tin, tuck in the ends, cover, and let it prove for an additional hour until doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/gas 6. Beat the egg and brush it over the dough, then sprinkle the chopped hazelnuts on top. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool for 20 minutes before unmolding. Enjoy on its own or with orange slices and a dollop of yogurt, if desired.
