Transform classic pecan pie into portable and decadent pecan pie bars for a convenient and irresistible snack.
Ingredients:
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup broken pecans
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (6 oz)
  • 2 teaspoons shortening
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and generously spray a 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine granulated sugar, butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and 1 egg. Add flour and mix until well combined. Press dough into the bottom and up the sides of the pan, using floured fingers if needed.
  • Bake until edges are golden brown, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together all filling ingredients except pecans until well combined. Gently fold in the pecans, then pour the mixture over the crust.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the edges are set. While still warm, gently loosen the edges from the pan. Allow to cool completely for about 2 hours before serving.
  • To create triangular bars, cut the baked bars into smaller pieces by first cutting them into 6 rows by 3 rows. Then, carefully slice each bar in half diagonally. In a small microwave-safe bowl, heat a mix of chocolate chips and shortening uncovered on High for 1 to 1.5 minutes until fully melted; stir until silky. Dip one side of each bar into the luscious melted chocolate and place them flat to set and dry.
