Enjoy festive citrus wreath cookies with sprinkles - a delightful treat perfect for holiday snacking.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons grated lime peel
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • Betty Crocker™ colored sugars, if desired
  • White candy sprinkles or Betty Crocker™ colored sprinkles, if desired
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to blend together butter, sour cream, and granulated sugar until creamy. Add egg, lime peel, lime juice, and vanilla; continue beating until smooth. Gradually mix in flour, baking soda, and salt until a dough forms. Shape the dough into two disks, wrap them in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Place a pastry cloth on the work surface and dust it with flour. Roll out one disk of dough to 1/8 inch thickness using a floured rolling pin on the cloth. Cut the dough with a floured 3-inch fluted cutter. Use a 1-inch scalloped or fluted canapé cutter to remove the center of each circle. Arrange the wreath cutouts on an ungreased cookie sheet, spacing them 1 inch apart. Divide each small cutout in half, moisten the backs with water, and attach them to the wreaths as bows. Repeat the process with the second disk of dough.
  • Bake for 6 to 8 minutes until edges turn golden brown. Transfer from cookie sheet to cooling rack and let cool completely.
  • Combine powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of lime juice in a small bowl, whisking until smooth. Gradually add remaining 1 tablespoon of lime juice to thin the glaze. Brush the glaze over a few cookies at a time and decorate with sugars and sprinkles. Allow the glaze to set before storing the cookies between layers of waxed paper.
