Make authentic Italian ciabatta bread effortlessly with this recipe using a bread machine for the dough, resulting in golden brown loaves baked to perfection in the oven.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3.25 cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons bread machine yeast
Instructions:
  • Add water, olive oil, bread flour, salt, sugar, and yeast into the bread machine in the order specified. Follow the manufacturer's recommended order if different. Set the machine to run the Dough cycle for approximately 90 minutes.
  • Take out the dough from the machine once the cycle is complete. Even though it will be sticky, avoid adding extra flour. Transfer the dough to a well-floured board, cover it with a large bowl or greased plastic wrap, and allow it to rest for 15 minutes.
  • Prepare two baking sheets by lightly flouring them or lining them with parchment paper. Divide the dough in half using a serrated knife and shape each piece into a 3x14-inch oval. Place the loaves on the baking sheets and dust them lightly with flour. Cover and allow them to rise in a draft-free area for about 45 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 425°F (220°C).
  • Mist loaves with water and transfer to the center rack of the oven. Bake until beautifully golden, 25-30 minutes.
