Cinnamon-Pear Oatmeal with Toasted Walnuts

Delicious and nutritious oatmeal with cinnamon, pears, and walnuts - ready in just 20 minutes!
Ingredients:
  • 1 can (15 oz) pear halves in juice
  • 2 cups old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts, toasted*
  • 1 cup fat-free (skim) milk
Instructions:
  • Separate pears from juice. Measure juice in a 4-cup measuring cup. Add water to juice to make 3 1/2 cups of liquid. Chop pears and keep aside.
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, bring the juice mixture to a boil. Add oats, cinnamon, and salt. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes for old-fashioned oats (or about 1 minute for quick-cooking oats), stirring occasionally. Finally, gently fold in the chopped pears.
  • Portion the creamy oatmeal into elegant serving bowls. Sprinkle a generous amount of crunchy walnuts, sweet brown sugar, and a drizzle of creamy milk on top.
