Double up on flavor with wholegrain mustard and crispy bacon in tonight's mouthwatering macaroni bake.
Ingredients:
  • 125.00 ml fresh white breadcrumbs
  • 20g finely grated parmesan cheese
  • 20.00 ml roughly chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves
  • 18.20 gm olive oil
  • 300g dried macaroni pasta
  • 175g shortcut rindless bacon, roughly chopped
  • 515.00 gm milk
  • 63.13 gm thickened cream
  • 50g butter, chopped
  • 62.50 ml plain flour
  • 11.80 gm wholegrain mustard
  • 375.00 ml grated tasty cheese
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven and grease a baking dish. Mix breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, parsley, and oil in a bowl, and set aside.
  • Boil pasta in salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and transfer to a bowl.
  • Heat the remaining oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Add bacon and cook until crisp, about 4 to 5 minutes. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel.
  • In a jug, combine milk and cream. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add flour and cook, stirring, for 1 to 2 minutes until mixture bubbles. Gradually stir in the milk mixture. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring, for 5 minutes until thickened. Stir in mustard and tasty cheese. Season with salt and pepper, then cook for 2 minutes until combined and cheese is melted.
  • Combine sauce and crispy bacon with pasta, ensuring each bite is full of flavor. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish, then generously top with a crunchy breadcrumb blend. Bake until golden brown for 20 to 25 minutes. Allow it to rest for 5 minutes before indulging in this exquisite meal.
