Classic stovetop mac and cheese recipe, ready in under 20 minutes. Creamy, gooey cheese sauce with tender pasta, finished with a hint of smoky white pepper. Find variations like bacon mac and cheese. Tips on cheese selection included.
Ingredients:
  • 400g macaroni
  • 50g Salted Butter
  • 40.00 ml White Plain Flour
  • 500ml milk
  • 250g cheese
  • Chopped parsley, to serve
Instructions:
  • Boil the macaroni in a large pot of boiling water until al dente following the instructions on the packet.
  • While the butter is melting in a medium saucepan, stir in the flour and cook over medium-low heat for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Slowly pour in the milk while continuously stirring until the mixture is smooth. Heat gently until it almost boils, then lower the heat and simmer for 2 minutes. Take off the heat, mix in the grated cheese, and stir until it melts and becomes smooth.
  • After cooking the pasta, toss it back into the pan. Drizzle the creamy cheese sauce over the pasta and mix until it's fully coated. Season with salt and white pepper to your liking. To finish, serve promptly with a garnish of fresh parsley on top.
