Versatile and comforting Snickerdoodle cookies: a timeless classic perfect for any occasion, with a subtle, traditional flavor that's an ideal addition to festive cookie plates or enjoyed on lazy weekends, at dinner parties, during coffee dates, or in care packages.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups Gold Medal™ All Purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Combine 1 1/2 cups of sugar with butter, shortening, and eggs in a large bowl.
  • Mix in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • Combine 1/4 cup sugar with the cinnamon.
  • Roll the dough into 1 1/4-inch balls and coat them in a cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place the coated balls 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until fully set, then transfer to a wire rack.
