Cook Time:
Indulge in a decadent twist on classic flan by infusing it with rich coffee flavor. The creamy blend of condensed milk, bread, and eggs topped with caramelized sugar is a delightful treat that balances sweetness with a hint of bitterness. Let it cool properly for 4.5 hours to set perfectly.
Ingredients:
  • 110g (1/2 cup) caster sugar
  • 3 slices white bread
  • 750ml (3 cups) iced coffee
  • 395g can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 eggs
Instructions:
  • In a medium frying pan over medium-high heat, cook sugar, stirring, for 5 minutes until it turns a deep caramel color. Pour the caramel into a 24cm bundt pan, swirl to coat the sides, and allow it to stand for 5 minutes to harden. (See note for reference).
  • In a blender, combine bread and iced coffee, allowing it to soak for 1 minute. Then, add sweetened condensed milk and eggs, and blend until smooth for about 1 minute.
  • Pour the chilled coffee mixture over the caramel in the pan and seal tightly with foil. Set the pan in a larger saucepan or wok and add enough boiling water to reach two-thirds up the side of the pan. Cover with a lid.
  • 1. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. 2. Reduce heat to medium and cook for 20 minutes. 3. Allow to cool at room temperature for 1 hour and 30 minutes. 4. Chill in the fridge for 3 hours before serving.
  • Invert the flan onto a serving plate and enjoy.
