Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup shortening
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon butter flavored extract
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup cornmeal
Instructions:
  • Combine the shortening and sugar until creamy. Mix in the egg. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and cornmeal. Stir in the vanilla, butter flavoring, and salt.
  • Spoon the mixture onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) until the edges are lightly browned. Avoid overbaking.
