Savory sage and cornmeal biscuits elevate this southern-style breakfast with turkey sausage gravy.
Ingredients:
  • 1 3/4 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage leaves, crumbled
  • 1 package (12 ounces) bulk turkey breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 450°F. Combine 1 3/4 cups Bisquick mix, cornmeal, 2/3 cup milk, and sage until a soft dough forms; mix for 30 seconds. Spoon 12 portions onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown.
  • As biscuits bake, sauté sausage in a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until cooked through; drain excess fat. Add 1/4 cup Bisquick mix and stir to combine with sausage. Slowly pour in 2 1/4 cups milk, stirring until smooth.
  • Cook for approximately 5 minutes, stirring often, until the mixture thickens. Season with salt and pepper. Serve the biscuits with the sausage gravy.
