Savory ground beef, sweet green peas, and creamy mashed potatoes baked to perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 4 large Yukon Gold potatoes, quartered
  • 6 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon herbes de Provence
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1.5 cups frozen peas
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and lightly grease a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate.
  • In a pot, add potatoes and cover with salted water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then lower the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until tender for about 20 minutes. Drain the potatoes and mash with 2 tablespoons of butter and garlic. Season with salt and pepper to taste and set aside.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, warm olive oil. Cook ground beef, herbes de Provence, and nutmeg, stirring occasionally, until beef is lightly browned and crumbly, about 10 minutes. Spread beef in a pie plate. Top evenly with peas, then mashed potatoes. Dot the casserole with remaining butter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until hot and bubbly, approximately 20 minutes.
