American twist on Hungarian classic: ground beef and macaroni in paprika tomato sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 large yellow onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons paprika, or to taste
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt, or to taste
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 cup water, or as desired
  • 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sauté beef, onion, and garlic until browned and crumbly, for about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Season the beef generously with paprika, black pepper, and seasoned salt. Incorporate the tomato sauce and tomato paste into the beef mixture until it forms a smooth consistency. Pour in the water, add the macaroni, and stir everything together.
  • Bring the liquid to a boil, then let it simmer on medium-low heat, adding water as needed to reach your desired consistency. Cook until the macaroni is tender yet firm, about 20 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.
