Homemade oatmeal cookie mix in a jar makes a perfect and thoughtful holiday gift for loved ones.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 0.75 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • In a 1-quart or 1-liter jar, elegantly arrange the following layers, firmly pressing down after each addition: white sugar, brown sugar, oats, flour, baking powder, salt, chocolate chips, and walnuts.
  • Place the fabric over the lid and secure it with a rubber band. Cover the rubber band with a nice piece of ribbon or raffia tied around the lid. Add a tag with the instructions. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Cream 3/4 cup softened butter, 2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla in a medium bowl. Mix in the contents of the jar by hand until combined. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a cookie sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes to make 2 dozen cookies.
