Impress your guests with this delectable seafood puff pastry in rich white wine sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 package (17.3 ounce-size) frozen puff pastry (1 sheet), thawed
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 medium green onions, thinly sliced (2 tablespoons)
  • 2 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup whipping (heavy) cream
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked crabmeat, shrimp or lobster
  • 1/2 cup Sauvignon Blanc, dry white wine or clam juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Roll out the pastry sheet into a 10-inch square on a lightly floured surface. Fold in half and seal the edges by rolling them together. Cut into 4 equal pieces and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, gently melt butter over low heat until it's just melted. Add onions and cook in butter until tender, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle in flour and stir constantly until the mixture is bubbly; then, take it off the heat.
  • Combine milk and whipping cream, then slowly pour into the mixture. Heat the mixture while stirring constantly until it reaches a boil. Allow it to boil and stir for 1 minute. Finally, mix in the remaining ingredients and heat everything through.
  • Using a fork, delicately separate each pastry in half. Spread the crab mixture generously over the bottom halves, then cover with the top halves of the pastries. For an extra touch, decorate with more parsley if preferred.
