Create irresistible light and delicate sugar cookies for a crowd.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 cup white sugar, for rolling
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) for the perfect baking temperature.
  • Cream together 2 cups of sugar, butter, and vegetable oil with an electric mixer until smooth. Incorporate one egg yolk at a time, making sure each one is thoroughly mixed in before adding the next. Sift in the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt, then stir. Add in the vanilla extract, and shape the dough into walnut-sized balls.
  • Sprinkle 1/4 cup of sugar on a flat surface, roll the dough balls in sugar until coated, and place them on baking sheets with at least 2 inches of space between each.
  • Bake in a preheated oven until cooked through in the middle but not yet golden brown, for about 15 minutes.
