Indulgent cream cheese frosting, simply made with cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Ideal for topping carrot cake, cupcakes, or cookies. Elevate your treats with this irresistible homemade icing.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick, 4 ounces, 115g), room temperature
  • 8 ounces Philadelphia cream cheese (1 package, 224g), room temperature
  • 2 to 3 cups (360g) powdered sugar (also known as confectioner's sugar), sifted
Instructions:
  • In a mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to blend the cream cheese and butter until smooth, about 3 minutes on medium speed. Remember to scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula for an even mixture.
  • Add the vanilla extract and 2 cups of powdered sugar to the mixture. Start the mixer on low speed and gradually increase to medium, beating until creamy. Adjust sweetness and thickness by adding more powdered sugar if needed, 1 tablespoon at a time.
  • Spread or pipe frosting on cupcakes or cake: Spread frosting with a blunt knife or spatula, or spoon it into a piping bag for decoration. Enjoy the recipe? Leave a rating and comment below!
