Cream cheese snowball cookies with a hint of almond flavor, rolled in confectioners' sugar and walnuts, for a delightful treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 0.5 cup finely-chopped walnuts
  • 0.5 cup vegetable shortening (such as Crisco®)
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Combine sifted confectioners' sugar with walnuts in a shallow bowl, and set aside.
  • In a bowl, cream together shortening, butter, cream cheese, and sugar until smooth. Add almond extract, vanilla extract, and flour; mix well. Roll dough into 1-inch balls using a rounded tablespoon. Space balls 1 1/2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven until slightly golden at the edges, approximately 6 minutes. Allow them to cool on the baking sheets for about 1 minute, then coat with the confectioners' sugar-walnut mixture while still warm.
