Elevate your dish with budget-friendly frozen spinach and a savory crumble topping for maximum flavor!
Ingredients:
  • 2 onions
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 whole nutmeg for grating
  • 1 kg frozen chopped spinach
  • 100 g unsalted butter (cold)
  • 100 g Cheddar cheese
  • 100 g plain flour
  • 100 g rolled oats
  • 250 ml crème fraîche
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4. 2. Finely chop onions and garlic, then sauté in a large frying pan with 2 tablespoons of oil and oregano over low heat. 3. Grate in half of the nutmeg and cook for 10 minutes until soft, stirring regularly. 4. Add spinach, increase heat to medium, and cook for 15-20 minutes or until liquid evaporates. 5. In a food processor, combine cold butter, cheese, flour, oats, sea salt, and pepper until crumbly. Transfer to a plate. 6. Blend cooked spinach mixture with crème fraîche in the processor for 1 minute. 7. Season to taste, spread mixture in a baking dish, sprinkle with crumble, and bake for 45 minutes until golden and bubbling.
