Anise-infused butter cookies - perfect for festive baking.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons anise seeds
  • 0.25 cup white sugar for decoration
Instructions:
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Cream butter and 1 cup sugar in a large bowl until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla. Gradually blend in sifted ingredients and anise seeds. Chill covered for several hours or overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease cookie sheets. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to shape the dough. Place cookies 1 1/2 inches apart on sheets and sprinkle with a mix of remaining sugar and cinnamon.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown. Let cool on baking sheets briefly before transferring to wire racks to cool completely. Enjoy the festive season!
