Buttermilk-soaked crispy fried chicken strips with flavorful seasoned coating, elevating beyond fast-food quality.
Ingredients:
  • 4 (5 ounce) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or more to taste
  • 2 cups buttermilk, or more as needed
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a cozy 200 degrees F (95 degrees C).
  • Cut the chicken breasts into thick strips.
  • Combine flour, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and cayenne in a bowl, then transfer to a gallon-sized resealable plastic bag. Pour buttermilk into a shallow dish.
  • Heat a large heavy-bottomed pan filled with oil to 350 degrees (175 degrees C).
  • Add multiple chicken strips to the plastic bag, seal it, and shake until all strips are evenly coated. Repeat the process with the remaining strips. Dip each strip into buttermilk and then into the flour mixture.
  • Fry batches of 4 or 5 strips in hot oil until they turn golden brown and are no longer pink in the centers, about 6 to 8 minutes. Drain on paper towels and keep warm in the oven while frying the rest of the strips.
