Tender buttermilk chicken tenders, crispy and juicy, a crowd-pleasing favorite.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds chicken tenders
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 2 teaspoons mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 2 cups peanut oil, or as needed
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Marinate chicken tenders in creamy buttermilk in the fridge for 20-30 minutes.
  • Combine flour with a flavorful blend of salt, garlic salt, mustard powder, paprika, and pepper in a large brown bag while the chicken is soaking.
  • Preheat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) until shimmering.
  • Pat the chicken dry, ensuring it's still slightly damp. Coat the chicken in the seasoned flour by shaking it in the bag until fully covered.
  • Fry chicken in batches in hot oil until golden brown, crispy, and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from oil, drain on paper towels, and season with salt and pepper while still hot.
